Marquesean Taylor Zion Benton OL Class of 2022 6'3 283
Marquesean Taylor how is your season going for you so far?My season so far is not what I nor my team expected. We came into the season thinking we were going to be one of the best in our conference. We wanted to show people that Zion Benton football wouldn’t be like the past years. Coming into the season we lost our head coach, Coach Cristo Garza. This set us back a lot. Currently we are 3-5 going into our final game of the season against Mundelein football. Our hopes are to end this season with a win and ending off 4-5.What does football mean to you?Football is a way to forget things, it’s like a pain relief. When I’m on the field I feel nothing physically and mentally literally all I want to do is just clash helmets for 2 hours. It’s also a way to connect with people. I’ve found some of my closest friends in football. It teaches me lessons about manly hood and understanding life after high school. It shows me that I have to work to be good and that football isn’t easy or else everyone would be playing it.What do you like about playing in the trenches? The trenches is the best part about football and the worst part about football. When you do good you aren’t noticed and when you do bad acid rain pours on you by not just the coaches but the stands too and even your team mates. Lineman probably have to have the best mentality in football. You have to forget the last play and keep going on. I personally love being an offensive lineman i get to protect someone with no limits. I smash my head into people for 45 minutes and come out perfectly fine.
What has been your favorite memory so far?My favorite memory is winning our first game after losing coach Garza. It meant more than that game. Playing for him and his family was amazing. I know he was proud of us once we won. What should college coaches know about you?I work hard I put in my best effort. I try to help my teammates to my best ability. I love doing what I do.
