Talking With Maine East Athlete Timo Kato Class Of 2024

So, in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know, but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. This is one of the many reasons why Deep Dish Football is respected in the IHSA. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Timo Kato how was your junior season? I thought my junior season was good although I had some things that could have been better, I still managed to notice those things in film and get better and apply them the next week. This season was definitely a good season for me defensively and a good shift from my sophomore season to junior season. What does football mean to you? Football means freedom to me. When I play football I can apply all the work and dedication to the game. I love football because whatever work you decide to put in it shows in the game and it shows what kind of player you are and can be. Football mens work, dedication and leadership to me which is why I love the game.

What should college coaches know about you? They should know that I am very hard working and that I acknowledge the grind of collegiate football and the grind of football in general. They should know I Iike to lead and pick up my teammates all the time. I’m always looking for my room of improvement and always looking to fix my game and my craft. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? I feel my strongest trait on the field is to break through blockers and make the tackle and to play anywhere I need to. One breakthrough trait I had this year was definitely my ability to make plays and make clutch tackles. No matter where I am on the field I’m always looking to make a big play for my team. What would you say to students of Maine East if they are interested in playing for your program next season? I would say get ready to work because although our team has things to fix, it’s good to come out early and assemble our team early for next season because we can be great if we work as a team. It’s a fun experience to be apart of because of the grind we put together and the hard work we deal with as a team. It’s good to see everyone working early for next season and me being a senior next season it’s gonna be fun leading this team to great things next year.

Who on Maine East had a breakout season? Someone on our team that had a breakout season would be our senior Yusef Awad. Me personally, I was not expecting to see the season he had this year. He played good on all cylinders of the ball and loved the contact. He was great to play with and I loved having him on my team to make great plays every game.
