Jack Nevins Libertyville Linebacker Class of 2022 6'0 190
Coach Big Pete Scouting Notes
Jack to me is still a very raw recruit but could be a top LB recruit in Illinois. Love his ability to make the hit and get to the ball carrier. You want to see a linebacker with that tenacity in your program.
Jack Nevins how was your spring season? My spring season was rough at first, I was playing outside linebacker and couldn’t quite get the reads down. But then two days before our first game, the coaches switched me to middle linebacker. As time went on I kept getting more and more reps and kept improving. Eventually, I was getting in almost the whole game and smacking people in the mouth. So overall, it was an amazing season! What does football mean to you? I’ve always had a dream of playing football in college, which explains how much I love it and can’t let it go. Football is my happy place, I love the intensity and how it makes me feel. I feel like I’m at home when I’m playing football, it makes me come to life. What should college coaches know about you? The coaches should know that I’m a guy that works my butt off no matter what. They should know that I’m not afraid of contact and shooting a gap. I hit those gaps fast, sometimes without the linemen noticing. What do you like about playing linebacker? I like being the loudest on the field and being a good leader to the team. One of my coaches told me that being a linebacker is like being the captain of the defense, which is a responsibility I’m always willing to have. In other words, I’m being a good team player and giving 100%. I also love how there’s always contact involved, you’re never not getting any action, there’s always something to do as a middle linebacker. More towards the learning side of things, I love getting feedback from coaches and players to help improve my game. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? I think that my attitude is the best quality that I have and pursuing that football. I also think that tackling is another strong suit.
