Julius Baker Neuqua Valley WR Class Of 2025 6'0 165
Julius Baker how has your season been so far? Great! I started my 1st Varsity game against Oswego (Week 1) and had my 1st reception against Warrenville South last week. I really enjoy playing for Coach Ellinghaus and along-side some great players What does football mean to you? Football means everything to me! I thought basketball did when I younger until I learned addition (math) and quit for football. I’m a HUGE Black Mamba fan (Kobe Bryant) when I was younger, and I was born after he scored 81 points in a game. I told my parents, I could score more points on a touchdown then I could in 1 play playing basketball, so I figured 13 TDs plus an extra point and a field goal. I’d be the first player to have 81 points in a football game. It’s a wild dream but it's kept me motivated! What should college coaches know about you? I possess a unique skill set. My game is modeled after throwback players from the 90s - 00s. My mindset and approach to the game is different. I believe in earning it and working hard. I’m an outlier as referred to in Malcom Gladwell’s book “Outliers”. I consistently (daily) put in the work to achieve my 10,000 hours trying to master my craft with the help of my trainers at EFT (Highland Park) and Acceleration (Naperville)
What do you think is your strongest trait on the field? My strongest traits are my hands and ability to get off the line in press. I’ll put a DB on roller skates in zone too. I’m still working on the art of perfection in many areas, but I put these 2 at the Top of the list right now What is your favorite route to run? The comeback! Especially if the DB is playing off-man. I attack him straight-on, whichever hand he shoots first I use the momentum to pull him behind me and catch the ball What goals do you have for yourself the rest of the season? Minimize costly mistakes Learn as much as I can from my coaches and teammates Be an asset on the field and not a liability and continue #HavingTheMostFun shout out my mentor Coach Hohensee.
