Mysonne, how did your freshman season go?

I’d say my freshmen season was pretty successful, we had some ups and downs but still had a good season, and this was a bit of a breakout year for me, as this past season was only my second year playing football.

What does your off-season training look like?

I’m in track and field, I’m a runner and i do shot-put, i have morning workouts 3 times a week and i plan on training with a training group called Athletic Konnection with Coach Brown soon.

What do you think your biggest strengths are as a defensive end?

My biggest strength would be my combination of speed and strength. That combination allows me to be versatile.

What areas of your game are you currently focused on improving?

My technique and my speed. I want to play Varsity football as a sophomore and i know I won’t be able to beat these guys with my strength and speed alone.

What are some of the key skills you think a great defensive end needs to have?

A great bend, being able to read different blocks, being mentally present, and a great instinct.

How important is film study and preparation for your position, even as a freshman?

Film is extremely important! Every team has a different way of playing defense and just having that knowledge of knowing you’ve seen that formation on film, and you know where the ball is going helps make a lot of plays.

What’s your role in the defense — are you asked to rush the passer, contain the edge, drop into coverage sometimes?

Mainly to rush the passer and contain the edge, but dropping into coverage was a possibility at LB.

What was the highlight for you this season?

Getting to know my teammates, I came to Saint Pats only knowing 5 people from my youth team. Getting to know the guys who I’m giving my all for makes it 1000x better.

You are a three-sport athlete playing football, basketball, and run track and field (with shot put), and you have a good GPA-how do you stay focused and get it all done?

It takes a lot of commitment, finding time to do things that you want to do and have to do is a challenge at times, but I have a great father who helps me manage my schedule extremely well! He was also a three-sport athlete!

What can we expect from St. Pats this fall?

You can expect a lot, there’s been a big Culture change with our new coach, Coach Zbikowski. Everyone’s 100% invested. Everyone’s hungry. I can promise you a playoff run!

What do you want college coaches to know about you?

I want them to know i want to be a leader from day 1, I want them to know I’m a competitor. I love to compete. There’s nothing I love more than the game of football, and no matter what college I end up going to, I’m going to compete at the highest level I can.

If you could say that one person on your team is going to have a breakout season, who would it be?

Kierre Wilson (C/O '28 // QB). He’s everything you want out of a quarterback, has the arm, the accuracy, the love of the game, the height (6’2), and the strength. The biggest upside to him is that he won’t stop working, no matter what.
