Jovani Downs how was your freshmen season? My season was good overall as a team we have gotten a lot better since our season ended but freshman season is just the start to something better and greater. This is only the beginning for me. What does football mean to you? Football means a lot of things to me it means Leadership, Family, helping teammates. It makes me feel home and gives me motivation to why I should keep going in life and never wanted to give up on myself. The moment I played as a kid I loved the sport so much it makes me feel safe and I never want to leave this sport. What should college coaches know about you? College coaches should know that I’m someone that will never give up if I was to fail, I will keep trying till I get it. I’m a leader whenever someone is feeling down, I bring their head up I never want to see any of my teammates down in life I only want what’s best for them and want to see them be successful in life.
What do you like about playing in the trenches?
Man, the trenches are so fun I mean like on DL just that rush you get through your body when you hear that QB said hike you know that’s your time to shine. OL, I mean I loved playing it so much my freshman year just knowing you're the reason your QB didn’t get sacked or you're the reason your RB didn’t get tackled that’s best feeling ever, don’t even get me started on the pancakes those are the best for me I love pancaking people. The trenches are a right place for me and feels like home.
What part of your game have you been working on in the offseason?
I have definitely been working on my hand work for DL next year and getting faster and bigger in the weight room.
Who are some other Class Of 2026 NNHS players we should be on the lookout for? You should be on the lookout for Gabriel Hill, and William Eloe.
