Meet Hunter DeVena Galesburg Linebacker Class Of 2022 - Top Recruit In Illinois

So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for lllinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Hunter DeVena Galesburg LB Class of 2022 6'2 205

Hunter DeVena how was your 2019 season?

It was good. I thought I had a solid sophomore season. Going into it so young at a varsity level I was a little worried at first but after the first game I got over that and felt very confident going into each game. I thought I had a very efficient season and was glad that I could help impact my team as early as possible, and now I know the difference between a varsity and say freshman of JV level game. I think adjust to the quick pace play and realized early how dominant you really have to be on a football field in order to produce numbers. What schools have you talked to so far? Iowa, ball state, Miami of Ohio, North Dakota, North Dakota State, Akron, Yale, Ohio, and NIU. What would you like college coaches to know about you? Football has been my life since I could remember and everything I do evolves around football. So whatever program I commit to I’m going to give my all to and will do whatever it takes to to win and be great. Weather I commit to a D1 D2 or D3 I will always give my best. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? Never giving up. If I have a bad play I don’t get down I just put that frustration into the next play. And I think my weight room strength and football IQ transfers to my play very well. Being able to maneuver the way I want and out muscle opponents is a very big part of my play. How does Galesburg look for the upcoming season? Everything we’ve done this summer and all the work we’ve put in I feel like we’ve progressed so much as a team. We look solid right now and I think if they allow us to play this spring we could have a breakout season. I’m very confident in my teammates and how much progress we’ve made. We all have a bond and I think we could play very well together on the field this spring. I know that my teammates and I are very excited to play again.
