Joliet Catholic Class Of 2025 6'3 OL Jake Jakovich Talks Football & Recruiting

So, in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know, but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. This is one of the many reasons why Deep Dish Football is respected in the IHSA. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Jake Jakovich Joliet Catholic OL 6'3 230 Class Of 2025

Jake Jakovich how was your sophomore season? Overall, an amazing season, I started the year on JV then moved to varsity going into week 4. It was a step up but I feel like it made me a much better player and pushed me to improve. Even seeing less in game reps, it definitely was an amazing experience. What should college coaches know about you? I pride in myself on my work ethic, on the field and in the classroom. I’ll never turn away from a challenge, and I hold myself to the highest standard. I try to uplift and push my teammates to be better every day. What has been one individual goal that you felt you accomplished last season? From the start of summer camp, my biggest goal was to have a great JV season, being moved onto varsity didn’t even come to mind. So I feel like I definitely accomplished that goal. What do you like about playing in the trenches? I love being able to hit someone every play. Pulling is even better, there’s nothing better than trapping some unlucky defensive tackle, or laying out a linebacker and landing right on top of them.

What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? My footwork, from last season to now I feel like it has improved my performance and level of play so much more than any other skill. Being able to stop a defensive end’s pass rush, and watch him give up just by mirroring his movement without putting a hand on him is such a great feeling. What does it mean to you to play OL for Joliet Catholic? Playing OL at JCA is special, there’s a certain level of grit and determination you need to excel and dominate on the field. Everyday our line coaches push us to be better and play at a higher level. What part of your game have you been working on in the offseason? I’ve been focusing on my ball get off and punch, trying to hit the other team before they even get off the ball.

What is your dream school to play for? It would definitely be Notre Dame; I’d love to play for the Irish someday.
