Ryan Porebski Taft Linebacker Class of 2022 6'1 214
Ryan Porebski how is your season going so far? The season so far has been great. We are 3-2 after Friday’s game and our team’s spirit has been crazy. I’ve broken the school’s tackling record and I’ve also been getting a ton of reps in at running back. I’m very thankful to have a normal season and I'm having a great time with my teammates. What has been your favorite memory so far this season? My favorite memory this season was our first home game. There was so much excitement and energy leading up to the first snap and it felt so good to see the crowd of Taft students. We destroyed grant and it was our new head coach’s first win so we dumped water on his head. The roar of the crowd will always be my favorite part of football What do you see in this Lane Tech squad for Friday night? I think they are going to do a lot of passing. Last year went into over time and that was their strength. I know our defense will stop the run game that’s our specialty and I’m confident in our pass protection. We are going to pound the ball down the field on offense and show them how tough we really are. It’s going to be a violent game and I know we’re going to come out with a win What schools have you been talking to so far? So far I’ve been talking to St. Norbert, Augustana, Roosevelt University, and UW-Eau Claire. All very nice schools but I am looking to start talking with some D2 D1 schools. I love the game of football and have been playing it all my life. I started at middle linebacker since my freshman year, won a city championship, and have been a captain since sophomore year. I believe I have what it takes and I’m going to continue to work hard and play aggressive to achieve my goal. What goals do you have for yourself the rest of the season? My goal this season is to be noticed by more colleges and to leave my mark on Taft football. My dream is to continue playing football after high school and I am beyond thankful for the offers I already have. I believe that our team will continue to grow and get stronger as we go into the playoffs and I believe our defensive front 6 is the best in the city. I want to be a role model and guide the younger guys in the right direction as they continue to grow and take our places when the seniors graduate.
