Conversation With Niles Notre Dame 6'3 OL Jimmy Donnelly Class Of 2024

So, in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know, but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. This is one of the many reasons why Deep Dish Football is respected in the IHSA. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Jimmy Donnelly Niles Notre Dame OL Class Of 2024 6'3 288

Jimmy Donnelly how was your junior season? I’ll say it was a statement that says I deserve to be here on the varsity level, and I deserve to be a starter as my sophomore season was controversial and cut short due to some issues with my coaches. I’ll also say it was extremely successful and I took a huge jump this year especially in my pass protection. What does football mean to you? Football is probably the biggest part of me and without it I wouldn’t be the person I am today. It holds my life together and gives it purpose and keeps me in check overall it’s everything to me. What should college coaches know about you? I’ll say that I’m ready to give anything up to just have the opportunity to be on team whether that’s blood, sweat, my body, time, family. I’ll do anything and give anything to be help my team and add to the winning cause.

What do you like about playing in the trenches? I just like the fact that I get to be as physical as I want on every play, and that I get to just pick people up and move them out of the way. It’s just a satisfying feeling when you know someone is trying to use all their strength and speed and technique to get past you, and you still end up winning the rep by putting someone on their back. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? My biggest trait is the ability to read a defense and change the blocking responsibilities and or pass protection based upon it.

How is Niles Notre Dame looking for the upcoming season? I’ll say we look good we have a few holes to fill but the majority of the starting players are returning. Our offensive should be better than the year before seeing our receivers and running backs and lineman have had one year under their belt in the system. Our defense is really coming together and should be a top unit in the state this year overall. I’ll say we’re hoping to be a treat in the playoff this year.

Remember Deep Dish Football Is Just Not About Recruiting
