Conversation With Maine South QB Jack DeFilippis Class Of 2024 - Name You Need To Watch

So, in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know, but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. This is one of the many reasons why Deep Dish Football is respected in the IHSA. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Jack DeFilippis Maine South QB Class Of 2024

Jack DeFilippis how was your junior season? My Junior season went pretty well. I was behind a senior, when he was injured during week 2, I then went in. I was able to start for almost the whole regular season, where I threw for 16 TD’s and 1,410 yards, and rush for 4TD’s and 205 yards. I definitely gained a lot of experience and learned a bunch from last years season, and I feel confident for next year. What does football mean to you? It’s more than just a game to me. I’ve been playing football for as long as I can remember. I feel football has given me opportunity’s that I would not be able to get anywhere else, and taught me life lessons that I will carry with me my whole life. It taught me that not everything will go your way, whether In the game itself or in life, but you have to keep moving forward and preserver. You have to give your all In everything you do. It has also taught me how to work at something you want. Football is such a huge part of my life and I never want that to change. What do you like about playing QB? I like being the general out on the field. Everything that happens between the snap and the whistle points to you, you have to control the game. I love playing the position itself and what it comes with, throwing or running TD’s, dissecting a defense, and leading the team.

What should college coaches know about you? I would say I am a dual threat quarterback with a strong arm, elusiveness with the ability to take off and run, and I am a leader on and off the field. What part of your game have you been working on in the offseason? I’ve been throwing a bunch with my quarterback trainer and my teammates, working on strengthening my arm and becoming more accurate. I’ve been lifting weights and gaining mass, while still getting faster while I run track. What goals do you have for yourself this season? My main goal is to lead my team to a 14-0 state winning season. Personally I want to accumulate for a total of 40+ TD’s and 3,000+ yards, I want to be all conference and all state. Who on Maine South is ready to have a breakout season this fall? This is going to be a breakout year for many, but a few specifically I would look out for are OT Zak Stoilov, RB Michael Delumo, OL Lazar Babic, WR Nick Wong, DB Jack Van Royen, and NG Jakub Kieta, WR/DB Evan Agusto, DB/RB Samuel Cooper, and RB/LB Anthony Capesius.
