Matthew Hightower how was your 2018 season?
My season was good, I started off slow at a new position but with time and getting settled in I grew to be a dominant player.
What was your favorite memory of your 2018 season?
My favorite memory of the season was the first game when I got a big hit on kick off. This set a tone for my physicality and aggression for the rest of the season because I saw what I could do.
What schools have you talked to so far?
I’ve talked to Harvard, Yale, Northern Illinois, Drake, Eastern Michigan, Eastern Illinois, University of Indianapolis, Air Force Academy, Western Illinois, Illinois State.
What would you like college coaches to know about you?
I would like college coaches to know that I have drive, heavy ambition, never satisfied because there’s always room to improve, and that adversity doesn’t discourage me but it motivates me. I am coachable, an optimistic thinker, and a student athlete.
How does Shepard look for this upcoming season?
We are looking very good in the upcoming season. We have a team with huge potential and the grit to drive us through the season.

Players to look out for this season is Elijah Vinson ‘20, Jalen Smith ‘21, Roy Williams ‘22, Andrew Wright ‘20 and I.
What motivates a Matthew Hightower?
My motivation is myself because at the end of the day you only got yourself and no one can go out and go get success for you. Anyone or anything in this world could try to motivate you but if you do not have that self motivation and mindset that you can always be better and improve on your current abilities then truly nothing can. Another thing is the potential to be great and to inspire others to chase after what they desire in. Lastly is human potential, the unthinkable has been done in and out of this world due to people pushing themselves to advance. It shows that anything is possible with drive and a goal.
