Josh Pollard Lake Zurich Class of 2020 OL 6'4 250
Josh Pollard how was your 2018 season?
As a team, we had a bit of a slow start. Once we started rolling at the end of the year, we suffered a tough 3 point loss to Mount Carmel in the last minute. We had really felt that we could have gone deep in the playoffs last year. I felt I followed this same cycle, as I got off to a slow start, but was able to start rolling during the season and into the playoffs.
Favorite memory of 2018?
Going on the road, and spoiling a few teams’ homecomings.
How does Lake Zurich look this season?
I feel we are going to be a strong team this year. We have lots of guys showing up every week before school lifting and training together. We have many returning on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball, as well as players ready to step up and play at the varsity level.
What schools have you talked to so far?
I have had the opportunity to speak to a number of schools that balance academics and athletics as I am looking to major in engineering as well as play football. A few of the schools are: Columbia, Bucknell, Missouri S+T, and MIT
What should college coaches know about you?
I like to think of myself as a very hard worker both in the classroom and on the field. I’m willing to go all in for the team, very coachable, and have a love for the game.
What game are you most excited about this season?
The first game, because there is nothing better than playing football again and seeing all the offseason work pay off.
What part of your game have you been trying to improve in the offseason?
Besides all of the lifting and running with the team, I have been working with the coaches on leadership, and with trainers on some finer points of footwork and hand speed.
What goal do you have for yourself this upcoming season?
First I’m going to do everything to support the team goals of winning conference and making a deep run at State. For myself, I want to have no hurries or pressures from the offensive side while having plenty on the defensive side, being a leader for the offensive line, and having a 1000 yard rusher.
