Naperville North's Big Time Edge Rusher Bo Richter Talks Recruiting, Camps, Huskie Football Clas

So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams

Bo Richter Naperville North Class of 2019 ER/DE/LB

COACH BIG PETE'S TAKE

Bo Richter only has played one season of football for Naperville North. His technique is great, especially with his handwork for a first year player. Gets great leverage outside, dips the hips and gets outside pressure on the QB.

Bo Richter what schools have you been talking to?

The biggest school I’ve been talking to is the Air Force Academy they’ve shown a lot of recent interest especially after I went out to Colorado Springs for camp. I’ve also been talking to a lot of Ivy Leagues, Penn, Yale, Harvard, Princeton. I’ve been keeping in touch with some MAC schools and North Dakota State as well.

Any camps this summer that stood out to you?

I picked up a lot of new interest at the northwestern showcase and from their I decided to go to Air Force’s camp and I really enjoyed the school and the coaches

What does football mean to you?

After only one year of Football in high school it’s a new passion for me. My passion before was basketball but when I got on the football field I just felt at home. My size and build was much better suited to football and allowed me the opportunity to play at the next level. It’s has opened doors for me that basketball never could have, and I truly love the game and what it brings to the table

So how does Naperville North look this season?

I think we have a lot of doubters on the outside of the program saying we lost too many stars since last year, but I truly believe that we have the pieces in place to be a top team in the state next year. With Coach Arthurs as our new defensive coordinator and Coach Drendel as our offensive coordinator they are going to put us in a great place to win a lot of games next year and surprise a lot of people!

What should college coaches know about you?

I think coaches should know that after one year of football at 190 my upside at 230 this upcoming season is going to show. I also think coaches should know how hard I work in the offseason and during the season and I think all of that will be able to be seen next year through my performance offensively and defensively

Give me a Naperville North player from the 2020-2021 Classes that college coaches should keep an eye out for?

Matt Maschmeier was on varsity last year and was a great safety for us. He’s a freak athlete and I think he’s gonna make a big impact for us next year on offense and defense. Also Riley Thompson is a new player who has never played football before and I think coaches should keep an eye on him, he’ll make an impact next year for sure.

Favorite memory from last season?

That’s a tough one I’m not sure what was better coming back from a 42 point deficit at Edwardsville or beating central. Both of those felt very good, but if I had to pick one I would go with beating Central that’s always a good feeling.

What would you tell a person who wants to go out for football, but is still on the fence?

I would say it is a once in a lifetime opportunity high school football is the best time of your life and you make friendships that will let a lifetime.
